Orvis donates 5% of pre-tax profits annually to organizations that protect fish and wildlife habitat. Over the last ten years,
we've donated nearly $10 million to these organizations, including Trout Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, Coastal Conservation
Association, Ducks Unlimited, The Conservation Fund, Ruffed Grouse Society, and The Atlantic Salmon Fund.
Below are descriptions of active projects for 2006 recently completed
Battenkill Restoration Fund
Today, 84% of the Battenkill's pools and riffles fall short of the desired coverage needed to provide adequate protection from
environmental and predatory threats. In 2006, Orvis is working to help restore the wild trout habitat of the Battenkill through the
installation of large woody debris, creation of deep pools, and improvement of wooded riverbank buffer zones by raising $90,000.00 for
the Battenkill Restoration Fund. Matching funds generously provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, tripling the contribution.
Cheetah Conservation Fund
In 2006, Orvis is working to help save the Cheetah from extinction by raising $60,000.00 for the Cheetah Conservation Fund. The fund is
educating local farmers not to fear (and kill) the endangered animal, as well as working to restore the cat's natural environment, the
Cheetah Conservation Fund hopes to bring this loved creature back from the brink of disaster.
Trees for Trout on Colorado's South Platte River
Trees for Trout is a bold idea to harvest trees burned during the great Haymen fire and strategically place them to restore fish wintering,
breeding, and feeding areas along Colorado's Upper South Platte River. The goal is to raise $120,000.00 to restore treasured public fisheries
in Elevenmile Canyon and along Tarryall Creek. Contributions will be matched by Orvis, Trout Unlimited and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation,
quadrupling your donation.
Casting for Recovery
Fly fishing has more benefits than you may know of - Orvis and our customers raise over $50,000 annually to help breast cancer survivors heal
through the sport and experience of fly fishing. Casting for Recovery retreats have already served 1,200 survivors in the US and Canada.
Orvis will match your contribution to this group.
